RAIN FORESTS
Geography:
1. Locations, Introduce 4 layers of the rain forest
2. Climate
3. Amazon River
Life:
1. Plant Life, what resources we use from the rain forest
2. Animal, insect, reptile, amphibian, bird life
People: Natives and Tribes
a) Daily life, homes, food, transportation, survival, etc...
Bible:
1. Tribal Religions
a) How they compare to Christianity
b) Biography of David Livingstone
Videos: (apply these sporadically throughout the lessons)
1. Check library possibilities
2. Kratt's Kreatures - the Rain forest
3. National Geographic: Amazing Animals (Rain forest)
4. Magic Schoolbus (In the Rain forest)
5. Bill Nye the Science Guy (Ecosystems)

1. Earth (Usborne)
2. A Geography Encyclopedia
3. Deserts (Earth in Action)
4. Wild Places (Usborne)
5. Bible
6. Bible Atlas
7. One Day in a Desert
8. One Day in a Rain forest
9. Wonders of the Rain forest
10. The Magic Schoolbus in the Rain forest
11. The Magic Schoolbus...All Dried Up
(If you can't find the videos, use the books!)
If you can't find these particular books, you may substitute with whatever you can find at the library. There are abundant resources on these topics. I like the colors and layout of the Usborne books, and the "One Day in a" series are very colorful and entertaining for young children. Some Bibles have Bible Atlases in them.
If you have fact cards or binders, such as Animal Fact Finder Cards or Wildlife Explorer (via mail order purchase clubs) or other resources on a variety of animals, that would come in handy for this unit as well.
